Daily Update - Forest Animals

We did a really big math activity today at Circle Time; we sorted animals into categories. We had to decide if an animal belonged in the rain forest, farm, ocean, pond, jungle, or forest. They were so good at this. We even discovered that many animals could fit in more than one category. It was cute watching them debate as to why an animal should go in the rain forest and not the jungle. Or that a snake, bird, butterfly, fish, etc. could be put in many different categories, if not all of them.  We went in the motor room and pretended to be different forest animals.  Some of the children painted with pine cones; others drew pictures of the forest.  Play dough and the sensory table have been very popular center activities this week.
