Daily Update-Trick-or-Treat, Party, Funeral, and a Tornado Drill!

What an eventful day! First of all I want to say a HUGE Thank You to the moms, dads, grandparents, and Miss Susan for joining us on our field trip. It was crazy, but worth it! Thank You to the parents that helped with our party also! We love when our families are able to be involved! Now to the funeral, we are very sad to say that our class pet Jaba, the hamster, died last night. We wanted this to be a life lesson for the children, so we sat down this afternoon and talked to the children about it. We shared our favorite memories of Jaba, and then we went outside and buried him. Like our day wasn't crazy enough we threw a Tornado Drill in there too!!

Daily Update - Halloween

We read Happy Halloween Stinky Face If your child calls you a stinky face you will know why, and I'm sorry! We made a Spider Web on our quiet room door, we tried to throw "spiders" on it, but we had trouble getting them to stick. So we just had to stick it on there. Some of the children even made big spiders!
REMINDER: Tomorrow is our Trick-or-Treat Field Trip to the courthouse, don't forget to leave your child's car seat if you are not going with us! Our Party will be from 10:45-11:30. Thank You to everyone that signed up to help with the party!

We will be leaving CLC a little before 10:00! Thank You to everyone that has turned in permission slips. If you haven't yet please do so, or if you need a new slip just let me know. Daily Update - Pumpkin Patch

We started the morning at the playground! We are trying to get the most out of the beautiful fall weather! At table time we made very colorful pumpkins by sticking tissue paper squares on a pumpkin shape. We also went "Looking For Dracula" again at Circle Time! Thank You to our Star of the Week's Daddy for reading to us and joining us for lunch (he even put her to sleep:)!

Daily Update - Pumpkin Patch

Today was a day full of painting! We sat out some finger paint with pumpkins, and some orange, green and brown paint at the easel. We also thought we needed some green monster play dough so we made that too!

Daily Update - Pumpkin Patch

This Week our Theme is Pumpkin Patch! Our letter of the week is G, and our song from now until Halloween is Looking for Dracula! They had so much fun learning and singing it today! We painted with Pumpkin Pie Finger Paint. It smelled so yummy! We made it by mixing cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg to our orange finger paint. Some of the children used their fingers and hands, others choose to just use their mixing stick to paint with.
REMINDER: No School Friday!

Daily Update-When I Grow Up...

This week our theme is When I Grow Up... The most popular careers in our classroom this year are Fire Fighters and Doctors! We have been learning about all kinds of different things we can do when we grow up. Our song of the week is called Special Me. For our art activities we have pretended to be an artist, a sculptor, and we drew a picture of what we wanted to do when we grow. Thank You to the families that came for parent/teacher conferences last night and we look forward to talking with the rest of you tonight.

Daily Update - Fire Safety

I just have to say quickly how proud I am of our children! They were awesome friends today! They are usually good friends everyday, but today they were going above and beyond! Comforting each other when they were sad, standing up for each other when someone wasn't being so nice, and just playing well together. They really made me smile and I thought I would share!
We reviewed some of the safety tips we learned yesterday from the firefighters, and read my favorite fire safety book called Stop Drop and Roll by Margary Cuyler. We sang our Firefighter songs, I will include them both in the Newsletter this week, because they love them both! We finger painted with the colors of fire!
REMINDER: Parent/Teacher conferences Tuesday and Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 if you haven't signed up for a time yet, please do so. We look forward to meeting with each of you.

Daily Update-Firefighter Visit

First of all I would like to thank all of the families that came to our Book Fair/Literacy Night. We love watching the children interact with their families and we enjoy being able to share some new ideas to help with learning at home. As long as you keep it fun, they will love learning (and they wont even realize you are teaching them).
Today we had some very special visitors Firefighter Chris, Firefighter Jim, and Firefighter Jamie! They talked to us about Fire Safety, brought the fire truck for us to look at and climb in, and they even let us spray the hose!! The children had so much fun!! Thank You So Much! We look forward to seeing you again next year :o)
REMINDER: Parent Teacher Conferences will be Tuesday and Wednesday next week. Please, sign up for a time to meet with us! The sign-up sheet is on the front counter. We look forward to talking with each of you!
