Color Resistant Easter Eggs! This is always one of their favorite activities. What we learned today: The harder you push your crayon the more resistant it is to paint, if you push too hard the crayon will break, and their favorite, if you use a white crayon it is like magic... you can't see what you colored until you paint over it with the water color paint. I had to go make more copies everyone did at least 1 and some made 2, 3, or even 4!

Daily Update - Easter
I just took an online class on learning trays which is an activity made for 1 or 2 children that can be done with little or no directions, and put out on a tray. For small group we sat up four different activity trays. Our trays focused on sorting by size and color, fine motor skills, creativity, and patterns. They did an awesome job with their learning trays and loved them. Our star of the weeks dad joined us for lunch today!

Daily Update 3/25/13
We are learning new songs this week, so far I think their favorite is Peter Cotton Tail! Today we had the choice to use paint dobbers or use finger paint to make an Easter Egg. Most of them chose to use paint dobbers! I wanted to give everyone a heads up for tomorrow morning. We will be doing a breakfast bar for the book fair. This means when you and your child come in to preschool in the morning, you can come wash your hands and pick your breakfast and eat with them and then go look through the book fair :) This is the best book fair to buy from, its buy one get one free!! Hope to see you all there!

Daily Update - Spring
I guess the first day of spring was actually today... I know I heard Thursday, but maybe what I heard was the first full day of spring is Thursday. Today, we made beautiful spring water color paintings. We also revisited our sponge and water activity from yesterday, but today we just made it a center instead of a small group. Our Star of the week's mom joined us for lunch and read us two books. Thank You for coming!!
Afternoon
I took some cute pictures yesterday afternoon, and wanted to share them!

Daily Update - Spring
I promise we did not ask for the snow they are saying we may get on the first day of spring!! Snow does not go with my theme at all!! We worked out our hand muscles today, by transferring water from one bowl to another with a sponge. All of the children really enjoyed this activity! We also practiced our cutting skills by cutting out a flower pot, and we filled it with kitchen scrubber painted flowers.

Daily Update - Spring
Thursday is the first day of Spring, and this week our theme is Spring. During circle time we talked about the four seasons. The children named the seasons, we talked about what the weather is like in the different seasons, and we talked about some of our favorite things to do during Summer, Winter, Spring, and Autumn Fall (That is what one of the little boys called it and I think that is perfect!) We talked about how much it rains in the spring, and read a book about rain. During small group time we made it rain in a jar with water, shaving cream, and blue food coloring. We also did a thing called Fine art for kids: Spring with Monet http://sarahlipoff.com/2012/03/08/fine-art-for-kids-spring-with-monet/ The kids really enjoyed it! We looked at four of Monet's Paintings for inspiration.
