Newsletter Sept. 28 Construction

Construction week was a fun week! Next week is Pet Week and we will also be taking our first Field Trip! On Thursday Oct. 4 we will be going to Lake of the Ozarks Animal Hospital in Linn Creek.  Every child is invited, but we do ask if it isn't your child's normal day and time that you do join us on our field trip. We also love to have visits from your family pets, if you would like to bring in your own pets let me know!
As you all know CLC is an inclusive preschool which means we serve children with and without special needs. What does this mean for your child:
Taken from our website: www.clcforkids.org We respects each child’s individuality & support an environment where all children learn from and with each other. Through inclusive classes, children with and without special needs play, learn, and grow together.
Some advantages of educating young children in inclusive classes are:
*All children learn best when they are exposed to peers with a variety of skills.
*Children with special educational needs achieve at a higher level when they interact with their peers.
*A shared common interest at school creates friendships outside of school.
*Children learn patience, compassion and acceptance of the strengths and abilities of others.
It is not unusual to walk in our classroom and see us working side by side with one of our wonderful therapist. We believe that Early intervention is key to children's development. If you ever have a concern about your child's development, please don't hesitate to talk to us about it. Also, if we have concerns we voice our concerns to our director, Lynn, who does further screening and we will meet with you to discuss our concern. The faster these things can be addressed the better it is for your child's educational future. Never think it is something that you as a parent have done wrong, it is not your fault! It is our job to notice these things, it is your job to love your child :o)

Daily Update - Construction

Our excitement of the day was that we had a guest chef prepare lunch for us.  Miss Catrina's brother Ryan came in and made an awesome lunch for us!  Thank You Chef Ryan!!  We also had our first Grandparent take us up on our offer to come in and read to us.  Thank You to Carter and Blair's Nana for reading 2 books to us today!  We did The Three Little Pigs 3 times today.  The children are getting so good at it, and it is so cute!  Friday I will try to get some of their performance on video.  As I am typing this I hear two of the children singing our Johnny Pounds with 1 Hammer song, it just made me smile so I thought I would share that :o)  During art time we colored on Sandpaper.  Most of the children really liked the way it felt.
REMINDER: We will be taking our first field trip of the year on Thursday, October 4th.  We will be going to Lake of the Ozarks Animal Hospital.  All of the children are invited, but we do ask if it isn't your child's normal day that you come with us.

Daily Post Construction

Johnny Pounds with One Hammer has become a very popular song around here... they love it and have asked to sing it multiple times today. We acted out The Three Little Pigs today and the children were Awesome!! Elyssia is our star of the week, and her mom joined us this morning as our special guest for Breakfast and Circle Time. During art time the children were given a piece of paper, paper cut into shapes, small craft sticks, foam shapes, and glue to create.
NOTE: We will be taking one more group shot tomorrow, and finishing up some individual shots. We also need to redo our Monday group shot and we will do that on Friday. Don't stress on how they are dressed for the group shot it really isn't that big of a deal :o) Miss Catrina gave me a sneak peak and the ones I have seen are very cute!

Daily Update Construction

By popular demand it is Construction Week!! The children have been so fascinated by the construction going on behind our building. We watched them tear down the old CADV, Clear away the mess, and now they are watching it being built. We are working on a walking field trip to the construction site, we are just waiting on a call back! We learned a fun new song today called Johnny Pounds With One Hammer, see if your child can sing it for you... If not, I'm sure they will be able to sing it by Friday! We are also learning the story of The Three Little Pigs, today we just read it, but the rest of the week the children will take turns acting it out. During circle time we looked at blueprints, and then during art time we sat out blue paper and white crayons for them to make their own blueprints!

REMINDER: Picture Day Tomorrow for those that were not done today, and we will also be taking a group picture again.

Daily Update Autumn-Fall

We went for a walk today. We were looking for signs of fall, and collecting leaves for our art activity. They all did such a great job of listening and following our rules. When we go outside the front door we have a lot more rules, because it isn't fenced in and it is close to the road. After we came in we dumped out all of our treasures so everyone could see what we found. Then the children created whatever they wanted with the materials we found. Most of them just glued the leaves to their papers, and some of them did some leaf rubbings. We also added some pumpkins and gourds to our Math/Science center. Thank You Miss Catrina!

Daily Update Autumn-Fall

This week we will be talking about Autumn or Fall. The first official day of fall is Saturday, September 22nd. I have realized that having this theme so early is not giving us very many pretty leaves to collect and look at. If you have any fall leaves at your house, I would love for you to collect some and bring them in! We talked about what Autumn is and what happens to the trees during this season. We made our own fall trees during craft time. We got 6 Grandparent letters today, the children get very excited when they open their letters! I have the letters hanging on the wall in the dress-up center if you would like to see them.

Daily Update Ten Apples Up On Top!

We had an apple taste test and this year Yellow was the winner!  We read Ten Apples Up On Top and then tried to stack apples on our heads.  Most of the children were able to balance one apple on their head.  We drew a picture and used the stamp pads to make apples up on top, some had just a few and some had too many to count!  Thank You for all the apples!  Tomorrow we will be making and eating homemade applesauce!

REMINDER: Picture Days are Sept. 24 & 25 this is also a fundraiser!  Miss Catrina does such an awesome job, so order a lot :o)

Daily Update - Eat Smart Celebration!

Congratulations CLC!!! Today we were presented an award by the Dept. of Health & Senior Services- for recognition of being a Missouri Eat Smart Child Care Center! This is a great achievement as there are only 4 other organizations in the state of Missouri with this title and we received the highest "advanced" level! Awesome Job to Miss Catrina for making this happen! And Yay CLC!!
Our eat smart celebration took up a lot of our morning, we did make one of those art projects that are not process at all, but just super cute. We made apple trees with our arms and hands.

Daily Update - Apples

This week is Apple Week!  We have started our letter of the week, and it is A week.  This week the theme did go with our letter, but this won’t always happen.  Next week our theme is Fall and our letter is B.  Yesterday the children looked at different types of apples for inspiration and then painted.  Today we cut open some apples and investigated what was inside.  We then painted with our cut apples.   We have also been talking about the color red.  During circle time all of the children went and found something red and brought it to circle.  We talked about what they found, we sorted them, and then we played a memory game with them.

REMINDER: We could still use some apples!!  Especially Green and Yellow!  Thank You!
