Daily Update - Kids in the Kitchen & Elfie 2 Names

We made Chocolate dipped pretzels today! Yummy :o) We also had another Special Reader! Thank You to E's Grandma for joining us today for a book and a visit to our playground!
Our very own Elf on the Shelf...Santa fulfilled a wish from one of our children and sent us our very own Elf on the Shelf. Ours is quite the daredevil, he was ziplining across our table this morning! After throwing around a few names we did a quick vote and our Elf is named Elfie 2 Names. He is keeping an eye on our CLC Children and reporting to Santa nightly.

Daily Update - Kids in the Kitchen

We had a busy day today! This morning we made Puppy Chow. The children helped stir the melted chocolate and peanut butter together, then we added some rice chex and they coated the cereal with the chocolate/pb mixture. Finally we scooped it in a baggie full of powdered sugar and shook it. They did a great job! We had a special reader and visitor for lunch thank you to our star of the weeks Grandma for joining us today! Miss Catrina helped us make our own afternoon snack. They made purple cow smoothies and in the words of one of our kiddos "Oh my that's yummy!"

Daily Update - Parent Involvement Day

It was National Parent Involvement Day! Thank You so much to the moms and dad that joined us today! We enjoyed having you join us for circle time and showing you how to make and play with play dough. I put two of our favorite play dough recipes and a sheet that tells what a child learns from playing with play dough in the cubbies. It is a wonderful learning tool and really helps build those fine motor muscles! We also shared our Star of the Week Board today, and her special bear.
REMINDER: Traditional Thanksgiving Gathering Tuesday, November 20th from 10:00-10:30.

Daily Update - Insects

We played our bumble bee game at circle time; The children draw a bee out of the beehive and it tells them something to do, like pat your knees, wiggle your fingers, jump 3 times, etc... Pretty simple, but they love it!! We also sang The Ants Go Marching, and for table time we sat out the bucket of shapes, glue, wiggly eyes, and markers for them to create their own bugs.
REMINDER: Book Orders are due this Friday, November 9th. Parent Involvement Day is November 15th. We are inviting you to join us from 9:00-10:00 for Circle Time and a special play dough table activity! It doesn't have to be a parent it can be a Grandparent if you are not able to join us.

Daily Update - Election Day

It is election day in America! So we took a break from insects and talked about voting and our President. We had our very own, very unofficial election and Obama beat Romney by a vote of 8 to 3. I hope that all of our families also remembered to get out and vote today; It is a right that we are very lucky to have! Miss Vicky from the Library came and read some fun Thanksgiving books to us and gave us a Turkey coloring page. Our Star of the Week's Gram joined us for lunch, we love having special visitors. For art time we did some red, white and blue painting that turned into a color mixing project and all of the papers look purple :o)
