SNOW!!

We couldn't go outside so... We brought the snow in!!

Daily Update - Dr. Seuss

WOW... The children were so excited to be back at school today!  They also seemed to really enjoy their snow days.  We heard about sledding, snowman making, no electricity, getting stuck, hot chocolate drinking, and snow ice cream eating!  During Circle time today we read I Wish That I Had Duck Feet, this led to a conversation of what kind of animal parts they would like to have.  One child wanted no legs so he could slither around like a snake, one child wanted a spider body,  and one child said it would be fun to have a skunk tail.  We then drew a picture in our journals of us with an animal body part.  It was also Crazy Hair Day!  Tomorrow is PJ/Silly Sock Day.

Daily Update - Dr. Seuss

This week we will be celebrating one of our favorite authors, Dr. Seuss.  Today was Red and White Day and tomorrow will be hat day.  We read The Cat in the Hat at circle time.  During our small group time the children made their own red and white hats, by adding red stripes to a white hat.  We also did some balancing in our Math and Science Center by trying to balance cups and bowls on our head like the cat did in the book.

Daily Update Review Week

This week is one of our review weeks.  We will be revisiting the letters A-T and numbers 1-10.  Yesterday was President's Day we talked about who our President is, what their job is, where they live and read a book called I Want to Be President.  I asked the children what they want to be when they grow up and got the following answers: Fix Airplanes and be a brother, mom, Fisherman, Dirt Track race car driver, Doctor, Dirt Bike Driver, Truck Driver, Princess-Sleeping Beauty, Fireman, Airplane Man, Fly Airplanes, Beauty and the Beast, and a Cat and Dog Doctor.   The children made President Abraham Lincoln Art today.

Daily Update - Valentine Fun

Our Star of the Week's mom brought us a very special art project to do today.  She has her degree in Art Therapy, and we are lucky she shares her talent with us!  The children made adorable Valentine Trees!  Thank You for sharing your time with us!
We made Chocolate Play Dough, and it smelled so yummy!  We made chocolate candy and cookies with it.  The children did an awesome job measuring and stirring.

Daily Update - Valentine Fun

This week is all about Love and Hearts!  During circle time we learned our new letter of the week in sign and talked about things that start with the letter T.  We made a sticky heart collage, the children liked that it was already sticky and they didn't need any glue.  We counted the hearts we added to the collage and some of the children cut out some hearts by themselves.  Our Star of the Week's Dad (and Mom for a little while) joined us for lunch today:o)

Daily Update - Chinese New Year

Miss Catrina came in our classroom today to talk to us about China.  She shared a dress that she got for "B" when she brought her home from China.   She read us a book, and told us in China it is a tradition to sweep out your house and get rid of all of the bad things that happened last year and get ready for a fresh start in the New Year.  So we gave it a try, we all took turns sweeping out all of the bad things and got ready for our fresh start at CLC!  She also gave us an orange that we will be bringing home, these are eaten for good fortune in the New Year.  It is the year of the Snake.  During table time we made our very own snakes.  We also tried to eat our lunch with chopsticks.  Some of the children did this very well.  Our Star of the Week's Nana and Grandma joined us for lunch today.  Thank You for coming all the way from Illinois to hang out with us!
