This week our theme is Cinco de Mayo. We will be talking about Mexico all week. We added a fun blanket from Mexico to our Dress Up Center and hoping to add a sombrero or two, if anyone has one they would like to let us borrow that would be awesome! We counted to 10 in Spanish and learned a few more useful words. We will also be learning how to say color words in Spanish this week. We started a piƱata today.

Transportation Field Trip to the Camdenton Airport
We had so much fun visiting the airport! Dr. Shari's brother is the manager of the airport, and we want to thank Dr. Shari for arranging our field trip. We got to look at many different planes, we saw some being worked on, we got to get inside some, we saw some being moved around by tractors, and we even got to see one taking off and landing! It was also a very strange coincidence that my Aunt and Uncle from Alaska flew in last night! So they also let us get into their plane! We had a blast! Thank You again Corey and Dr. Shari! Thanks to all of the parents that joined us! We couldn't go on field trips without you! And Thank You to my Aunt Debbie and Uncle Will!

Daily Update 4/24/13
At table time the kids made their own stoplights. We talked about what each color meant and what we should do when we see them. At circle time we all got a turn to tell each other which means of transportation we would choose to drive. Some of the answers were dump truck drivers, fire truck drivers, boat driver, trash truck driver, a Dora truck driver and even had one child say "Nothing, I don't want to drive".
Tomorrow is field trip day! We will be leaving here tomorrow about 9:15, so if you are helping drive please allow a little time beforehand to put car seats in. For those parents who aren't able to come and their child is in a car seat, don't forget to leave it! I am still missing a few permission slips, I will attach another one to those cubbys. Thank you!!

Daily Update - Transportation
Our Theme this week is transportation. The definition of transportation is a means of traveling or of carrying somebody or something from one place to another. We told them the definition and asked if they could name something that gets you from one place to another. Their answers: Car, Boat, Truck, Tractor, Horse, Feet, Airplane, and Bike... Very good answers! Today we painted a box that the children are going to turn into a go-cart! We also added vehicles to the play dough!

Earth Day - Daily Update
Another way you can help the Earth is by planting. Trees, vegetable, fruit and even flowers help our Earth. Today we did a small group that incorporated literacy, math, and science. We planted Sunflower seeds. First, they had to find their name that was written on a cup. Then, they filled their cup with dirt. Next, they put 3 seeds in the dirt. Finally they put it in the sensory tub and watered it. Most of them did really well following the 4 step directions; some needed a little extra help. It was messy, but they loved it!
