Daily Update - 100th Day of School!

Thank you to the parents that brought in 100 items.  I'm sorry I didn't give everyone much notice it was a last minute decision!  We had 100 cherrios, 100 beans, 100 chocolate chips, and 100 Balloons!  I also brought in 100 Balloons, and our day centered around our balloons :o)  During Circle time we counted by 1's and 10's to 100.  It is so much faster to count by 10's the children discovered.  There are a lot of great counters in our classroom!

Daily Update - Polar Animals

Will it slide?  Today we picked out a small toy on our way to circle time.  I asked the children what they thought a penguin would do if it came to an ice covered hill, and one of the children said slide down.  Another one added on his belly!  Will our toys slide down the ice or get stuck.

Thank You to our Star of the Week's mommy for joining us for breakfast and circle time.  Thank you for reading Pout Pout Fish and our penguin book!
We found our own names...
We made Fuzzy Polar Bears...

Daily Update - Polar Animals

Today was all about Ice!  We used glue and glitter to make icicles.  We created snowy pictures and then painted over it with our magic ice paint (water with epsom salt).  What happens when you add water and salt to ice?  Ask your child tonight about our ice experiment.

Daily Update - Polar Animals

I'm a little Penguin Black and White, I waddle to the left and I waddle to the right. I can't fly, but I can swim, I waddle to the water and jump right in. That is one of our songs we are learning this week... It is also the one that I can't get out of my head!! We read a book today that was called What Polar Animals Eat. We did sponge painting at the tables. Some of the children chose to sponge paint around a polar animal so when you took it off you could see the outline of the animal.  Others just wanted to sponge paint all over the paper. They had fun exploring and squeezing the paint filled sponges. We had a special guest for lunch today, thank you to our Star of the Week's Dad for joining us.

Daily Update - Polar Animals

This week we are talking about Polar Animals.  At Circle Time we read a book about Polar Animals, we sang some fun new songs about penguins, and we are learning a poem about a Polar Bear.  During Art Time we painted with "Snow" Shaving Cream mixed with Glue makes great Snow Paint, or puffy paint.  You can make colored puffy paint by adding some paint to it.  It is best to add finger paint, because it almost always turns into finger painting.  Most of the children love the feel of the shaving cream!  During Gross Motor Time we played in the Motor Room because it is so cold.  The Superheroes were still fresh on their minds... We had a lot of capes and flying around!

This is from last week, but after the newsletter was done.  I wanted to share because it is so cute!
